Conway – The Central Arkansas women's tennis team was back in action on Sunday, welcoming the Incarnate Word Cardinals to the Central Arkansas Tennis Courts. The Bears extended their Southland Conference winning-steak to five straight matches, taking down UIW 6-1.
The Bears took two of the three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead, while the third match went unfinished. Kelsey Williams and Kristina Horsikyan took the no. 1 match over Ivana Katavic and Andi Botha by a score of 8-5, while Sasha Ruocco and Krizia Buck took the no. 3 match against Taryn Strahl and Kelsey Reblin by a tally of 8-1. The no. 3 match between UCA's Cassidy Crawford and Simona Horsikyan and UIW's Sarah Savedra and Jennifer Betancourt went unfinished.
Incarnate Word's (5-17, 1-10 SLC) Katavic picked up the win in the no. 1 match, taking down Simona Horsikyan 6-4, 6-3. The Bears swept the remaining singles matches though, securing the 6-1 win. Williams took down Betancourt 6-3, 6-3 in the no. 2 match, and in the no. 3 match Kristina Horsikyan defeated Botha 6-0, 2-6, 6-4. Crawford scored a 6-1, 6-0 win over Strahl in the no. 4 match, while in the no. 5 match Buck scored a 7-5, 6-2 win over Reblin. The Bears' Bianca Strukelj took down Brianah Creek 6-3, 6-2 in the no. 6 match.
Central Arkansas' match against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, which was scheduled for a 2:30 P.M. start time, was postponed due to weather.
The Bears return to action on Friday afternoon, traveling to Abilene, Texas to take on the Abliene Christian Wildcats at 10:00 A.M.
