Monroe, La. – The Central Arkansas women's tennis team hit the road for a Southland Conference matchup on Friday, traveling to Monroe, Louisiana to take on the University of New Orleans. The Bears picked up the doubles point to grab an early lead, and continued that success in singles play to lock up 5-2 victory over the Privateers to push their SLC winning streak to four matches.
In doubles play, the Bears (11-9, 4-6 SLC) built an early 1-0 lead to take control of the match. In the no. 2 doubles match, Kristina Horsikyan and Cassidy Crawford improved to 7-6 on the year with an 8-6 victory over Hafsa Laraibi and Yasmine Rashad, while in the no. 3 match, Krizia Buck and Sasha Ruocco took down Grace Nolan and Amina Mrad by a score of 8-6 to move to 6-2 on the season. New Orleans' (6-8, 3-5 SLC) Marta Sans and Soledad Arroyo defeated Kelsey Williams and Simona Horsikyan 8-3 in the no. 1 match.
Central Arkansas secured the Bear victory in singles play, taking four of six matches. Simona Horsikyan won the no. 1 match against Nolan with a score of 6-2, 6-0, and in the no. 3 match Kristina Horsikyan moved to 12-7 on the year with a 7-5, 4-6, 10-5 win over Sans. Cassidy Crawford secured the no. 4 match, taking down Laraibi 6-4, 6-0, and Krizia Buck picked up the no. 5 match over Mrad 6-4, 6-0 to move to 15-5 on the year.
The Bears play a pair of matches in Conway on Sunday. They will host SLC foe Incarnate Word at 10:00 A.M., before facing in-state opponent Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 2:30 P.M.
