WOMEN’S TENNIS FALLS TO NORTHWESTERN STATE TO OPEN SLC PLAY

Krizia Buck extended her winning-streak to eight matches on Sunday
Conway – The Central Arkansas women's tennis team opened Southland Conference play on Sunday, welcoming the Northwestern State Lady Demons to the Central Arkansas Tennis Courts. Krizia Buck was the only Bear to emerge victorious on the day, as Central Arkansas fell 6-1 to the Lady Demons.

Northwestern State (8-3, 1-0 SLC) won two of the three doubles matches on the day, securing a 1-0 lead heading in to singles play. Northwestern State's Polina Konop and Tatiana Larina scored an 8-6 victory over Kelsey Williams and Allison Murphy in the no. 1 match, while the Bears' Kristina Horsikyan and Cassidy Crawford fell 8-7 to Lady Demons Natalya Krutova and Kateryna Piatakova. Central Arkansas (7-4, 0-1 SLC) picked up the win in the no. 3 match, as Simona Horsikyan and Buck extended their winning-streak to seven matches in a row with an 8-5 victory over Aliona Ladutska and Daniela Simonova.

Central Arkansas was able to take just one of the singles matches on the day, as Buck extended her own winning-streak to eight matches with a 706, 5-7, 10-6 win over Piatakova in the no. 5 match. In the no. 1 match, Simona Horsikyan fell 6-3, 7-3 to Konop, while Williams fell to Larina in the no. 2 match by a tally of 6-4, 6-3. Crawford dropped the no. 3 match to Krutova by a score of 3-6, 6-2, 6-0, and in the no. 4 match, Kristina Horsikyan fell 6-3, 5-7, 10-5 to Ladutska. In the no. 6 match, Bianca Strukelj lost a 6-1, 6-1 decision to Simonova.

The Bears return to action on Tuesday, welcoming SLC opponent Stephen F. Austin to Conway, before hitting the road for Louisiana later in the week. On Saturday, Central Arkansas will face off against Southeastern Louisiana before closing out the week with a match against New Orleans on Sunday.
