WOMEN’S TENNIS DROPS 6-1 DECISION TO TAMCC

Simona Horsikyan earned a 6-4, 6-1 win on Tuesday
Dallas, Texas – The Central Arkansas women's tennis team continued the Southland Conference schedule on Tuesday, meeting the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders in Dallas, Texas. The Islanders took two of the three doubles matches to secure the 1-0 lead, before proving victorious in five of the six singles matches to defeat the Bears 6-1.

AMCC's (9-4, 3-1 SLC) Sandra Burges and Judit Vives defeated the Bears' Kristina Horsikyan and Kelsey Williams by a score of 8-3, before Central Arkansas' (7-9, 0-6 SLC) picked up an 8-6 victory over Stefania Nicolae and Kerry Galhos to even the doubles competition at one match per squad. The Islanders secured the point in the no. 3 match, as Krizia Buck and Sasha Ruocco fell to Celia Rodriguez and Maider Martin by a final of 8-7 (7-0).

In singles play, Simona Horsikyan scored the Bears' only win, defeating Nicolae 6-4, 6-1 in the no. 1 match. Kelsey Williams dropped the no. 2 6-3, 6-3 to Martin, and in the no. 3 match, Kristana Horsikyan fell by a score of 6-4, 6-4 to Vives. In the no. 4 match, Crawford dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision to Rodriguez, before Buck lost the no. 5 match to Burges by a score of 6-0, 6-3. The no. 6 match saw Bianca Strukelj fall by a tally of 6-2, 6-1 to Kerry Galhos.

Central Arkansas takes the court again tomorrow afternoon, traveling to Prairie View, Texas to face off against the Lady Panthers of Prairie View A&M at 2:00 P.M. The Bears will return to Southland Conference play this weekend with a pair of road matches in Texas. On Sunday Central Arkansas will be in Huntsville to play Sam Houston State at 1:00 P.M., before closing out the week in Beaumont against Lamar at 10:00 A.M. on Sunday.
