Conway – The Central Arkansas tennis team was back in action at the UCA Tennis Courts on Saturday, playing host to Southland Conference foe McNeese State. Krizia Buck was the only Bear to pick up a victory on the day, extending her winning streak to 11 matches as the Bears fell 6-1.
McNeese State (9-4, 4-0 SLC) earned wins in two doubles matches to earn a point. Cassidy Crawford and Kristina Horsikyan dropped the no. 1 match 8-5 to Klaudia Gawlik and Sara Castellano, while Sasha Ruocco and Kelsey Williams fell in the no. 3 match by a score of 8-2 to Julia Kral and Annabelle Peacock. The no. 3 match between UCA's (7-7, 0-4 SLC) Krizia Buck and Simona Horsikyan and McNeese's Anastasia Surkova and Vivien Borbely went unfinished.
In singles play, Buck earned Central Arkansas its only point of the day, defeating Surkova 3-6, 6-4, 10-7 to extend her winning streak in singles play to 11 matches. In the no. 1 match, Simona Horsikyan fell to Gawlik 6-1, 6-0, while Williams dropped the no. 2 match 6-0, 6-2 to Castellano. Kristina Horsikyan lost the no. 3 match 6-4, 4-6, 10-5 to Kral, and in the no. 4 match Crawford dropped a 6-4, 2-6, 10-4 decision to Borbely. Bianca Strukelj lost the no. 6 match to Andreea Nenu by a score of 6-0, 6-3.
Central Arkansas returns to action on Sunday, hosting Nicholls at 10:00 AM.
