WOMEN’S TENNIS FALLS 5-2 TO STEPHEN F. AUSTIN

Kristina Horsikyan was one of two Bears to win on Tuesday
Conway – The Central Arkansas women's tennis hit the courts on Tuesday, hosting Southland Conference foe Stephen F. Austin at the UCA Tennis Courts. Despite Krizia Buck maintaining her winning streaks though, the Ladyjacks proved too much for the Bears, as SFA defeated UCA 5-2.

Stephen F. Austin (5-5, 2-0 SLC) scored wins in two of the three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. Central Arkansas' Kelsey Williams and Allison Murphy dropped the no. 1 match 8-5 to Julia Lorca and Malena Gordo, while Kristina Horsikyan and Cassidy Crawford fell 8-7 to Laura Servise and Rachel Pierce. Simona Horsikyan and Krizia Buck saw their seven-match winning streak preserved, as the no. 3 match went unfinished.

Central Arkansas (7-5, 0-2 SLC) showed some fight, winning two of the singles matches, but fell in the other four. Simona Horsikyan lost the no. 1 match to Denise Maxl by a score of 6-0, 7-6, while Williams fell to Gordo 6-4, 6-4 in the no. 2 match. Crawford lost the no. 3 match against Lorca by a tally of 6-4, 6-3 and Murphy, playing in her first singles match of the season, fell in the no. 4 match by a score of 6-1, 7-6 to Valeria Terentyeva. Kristina Horsikyan gave the Bears their first point of the day in the no. 5 match, defeating Macarena Acost 6-0, 6-0. In the no. 6 match, Krizia Buck pushed her winning streak to nine matches with a 6-2, 7-6 win over Katerina Bugayenko.

Central Arkansas hits the road for its next two matches, travelling to Hammond, Louisiana to play Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday, then heading to New Orleans, Louisiana on Sunday to face New Orleans.
