WOMEN’S TENNIS TAKES DOWN NORTHEASTERN STATE

Krizia Buck pushed her winning streak to six matches on Saturday
Conway – The Central Arkansas women's tennis team was back on the court on Saturday, playing host to Northeaster (OK) State. The Bears dropped just one matchup on the day, taking down the Riverhawks 6-1 to improve to 6-3 on the season.

Central Arkansas won all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead in the match. Kesley Williams and Allison Murphy improved to 5-3 in no. 1 doubles play on the season, taking down Kristina Savchenkov and Martina Bruzikova 8-2, while Kristina Horsikyan and Cassidy Crawford also moved to 5-3 on the year, taking  the no. 2 match 8-1 over Barbora Jirickova and Maria Lodge. The pair have won five of their past six matches. In the no. 3 match, Krizia Buck and Simona Horsikyan improved to 4-1 on the year with an 8-1 win over Lucia Cerchlanova and Kate Nesbitt.

In singles play, Central Arkansas took five of the six matches, dropping just the no. 6 match, when Sasha Ruocco was forced to retire with the first set of her match against Jirickova tied at 4-4. Simona Horsikyan took the no. 1 match 7-5, 6-4 over Savchenkov toimprove to 6-3 on the season, and Williams improved to 4-4 with a 7-5, 6-2 defeat of Bruzikova. In the no. 3 match, Crawford  moved to 4-4 with a6-0, 6-0 sweep of Cerchlanova. Krstina Horsikyan took the no. 4 match 6-2, 6-0 over Lodge to improve to 5-2 on the year, while Buck pushed her winning streak to six matches with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Nesbitt.

The Bears open conference play at home next weekend, playing host to Northwestern State at 10:00 Saturday morning.
