Jonesboro, Ark. – The Central Arkansas women's tennis team headed to Jonesboro, Arkansas riding a four match winning streak. The Bears were unable to keep the streak going, however, falling to the Lady Red Wolves 6-1.
Arkansas State (2-3) picked up victories in two of the three doubles matches to grab the point for doubles play. Central Arkansas' Kelsey Williams and Allison Murphy dropped the no. 1 match 8-6 to the Lady Red Wolves' Tamara Slijepcevic and Janie Nowland. In the no. 2 match, Kristina Horsikyan and Cassdy Crawford fell to Arkansas State's Biljana Miloshevska and Julie Gauguery. Simona Horsikyan and Krizia Buck gave Central Arkansas its only point in doubles play, defeating Jess Heeps-Eriksen and VictoriaPisani 8-3.
In singles play, Buck was the only Bear able to earn a victory, taking down Heeps-Eriksen 6-3, 6-3 in the no. 5 match. Simona Horsikyan dropped the no. 1 match 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 to Slijepcevic, while Crawford fell in the no. 2 match to Nowland by a tally of 6-3, 1-6, 7-5. In the no. 3 match, Williams came up short, falling 6-4, 6-1 to Gauguery, and in the no. 4 match, Kristina Horsikyan fell 6-2, 6-4 to Miloshevska. In the final match of the day, Bianca Strukelj fell to Chara Stefanov by a score of 6-4, 6-3.
Central Arkansas looks to bounce back with a pair of matched this weekend. On Saturday afternoon the Bears will host Northeastern State University at 2:00, before playing Southwest Baptist at noon on Sunday.
