Murray, Kent. – The Central Arkansas women's tennis team returned to action in Murray, Kentucky on Saturday, battling the Murray State Racers. The Racers emerged victorious, downing the Bears 6-1.
Murray State (3-2) swept all three doubles matches to start the day. Kelsey Williams and Allison Murphy fell to Eleonore and Verginie Tchakarova 8-2 in the no. 1 match, Kristina Horsikyan and Cassidy Crawford lost to Erin Patton and Andrea Eskauriatza 8-2 in the no. 2 match, and Simona Horsikyan and Krizia Buck fell to Megan Blue and Carla Suga 8-6 in the no. 3 match.
In singles play, Simona Horsikyan dropped the no. 1 match by a score of 6-0. 6-3 to Eskauriatza and Williams fell to Carla Suga 6-3, 6-2 in the no. 2 match. In the no. 3 match, Crawford fell to Eleonore Tchakarova 6-4, 0-6, 6-1. Kristina Horsikyan earned Central Arkansas' only point on the day in the no. 4 match, defeating Blue 2-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-8). In the no. 5 match, Sasha Ruocco suffered her first singles loss of the season, falling to Verginie Tchakarova 6-2, 6-3. In the no. 6 match, Buck fell to Patton 6-3, 1-6, 1-0 (11-9).
Central Arkansas hits the court tomorrow morning, taking on Tennessee-Martin at 10:00.
