Conway – The Central Arkansas women's tennis team made up the first of a pair of snowed out matches on Wednesday, hosting Harding University at the Hendrix Indoor Tennis Center. The Bears picked up their first win of the season, defeating the Lady Bisons 6-1 to improve to 1-1 on the year.
Central Arkansas swept all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. Allison Murphy and Kelsey Williams took the no. 1 match 6-3, while Simona Horsikyan and Cassidy Crawford won the no. 2 match 6-1. Krizia Buck and Sasha Ruocco completed the sweep by winning the no. 3 match 6-1.
In singles play, Simona Horsikyan defeated Ali Rowden 6-1, 6-1 in the no. 1 match. In the no. 2 match, Piper Huey gave Harding their lone point of the day , defeating Kelsey Williams 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (10-8). Cassidy Crawford got her first win as a Bear in the no. 3 match, beating Benyapa Phumtip 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (10-8). In the no. 4 match, Kristina Horsikyan took down Lauren Doversola 6-0, 6-3, while Sasha Ruocco earned her second win in a row in the no. 5 match, beating Arielle Butler 6-3, 6-0. Krizia Buck wrapped up the day for Central Arkansas, defeating Kaleigh Wagner 6-0, 6-2 in the no. 6 match.
Central Arkansas hits the road for Murray, Kentucky where they will play a pair of matches this weekend. On Saturday, the Bears will face Murray State, before battling Tennessee-Martin on Sunday.
