MEN’S SOCCER UNABLE TO OVERCOME EARLY DEFICIT IN LOSS TO SANTA CLARA

Taylor Hart was one of two Bears with a shot on goal Sunday
Albuquerque, N.M. –

The Central Arkansas men's soccer team was unable to overcome allowing a pair of first half goals on Sunday, falling to Santa Clara 2-0 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Santa Clara (1-4-0) grabbed the lead in the seventh minute, as James Huffer took advantage to some miscommunication along the Bear back line to slip a pass to Keigo Kameiya, who slid it just inside the post for his first goal of the season and a 1-0 lead. An own goal by the Bears (3-3-0) in the 33rd minute pushed the Bronco lead to 2-0.

Wes Carson and Taylor Hart each had a shot on goal for the Bears, while Kameiya recorded the only shot on target for the Broncos. Taran Meyer was in net for Central Arkansas, allowing a pair of goals, and Kendall McIntosh recorded a pair of saves for Santa Clara.

Central Arkansas returns to the field with a pair of games in Nashville, Tennessee this upcoming weekend. The Bears will face off against Belmont at 5:00 Friday afternoon, before battling Lipscomb at 3:30 on Sunday afternoon.
