The Central Arkansas tennis team travelled to Pine Bluff, Arkansas on Tuesday to battle in-state opponent Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Bears defeated the Lady Lions 7-0.
Central Arkansas (10-12) didn’t drop a match on the day, winning all three doubles matches and all six singles matches.
In the no. 1 doubles match, Simona Horsikyan and Allison Murphy defeated Monica Arcos and Elizabeth Perez-Rodriguez by a score of 8-0 for their third victory of the season. In the no. 2 match, Sasha Ruocco and Krizia Buck pushed their winning to four matches with an 8-2 victory over Fabiola Cardoso and Maria Cabane. The no. 3 match went to Simona Horsikyan and Anna Buyukyan when UAPB’s Khadijah Kenyatte and Brittney Boler were forced to retire due to an injury.
In singles play, the Bears dropped only one set on the day. Simona Horsikyan improved to 9-13 with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Arcos in no. 1 play. Allison Murphy earned her team-leading 12
th win of the season Kenyatte retired with an injury. The no. 3 match went to Kristina Horsikyan, who improved to 9-13 with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Cabane. Krizia Buck won the no. 4 match over Cardoso by a score of 6-1, 6-2 to move to 11-10 on the season. Sasha Ruocco extended her winning streak to four matches with a 3-6, 6-1, 10-7 victory over Perez-Rodriguez. The final match of the day went Anna Buyukyan who defeated Boler due to an injury.
Central Arkansas returns to the court on Saturday, traveling to Prairie View, Texas to take on Prairie View A&M at 10:00 am. They then go to Huntsville, Texas to face Southland Conference foe Sam Houston State at 10:00 in the morning.
