The Central Arkansas tennis team picked up its second home win in as many days on Sunday morning, defeating North Alabama6-1 to improve to 3-5 on the season.
Central Arkansas took two of the three doubles matches to gain the 1-0 advantage heading into singles play. The Lions won the no. 1 doubles match, as Mackenzie Bishop and Natalia Barrigan defeated Central Arkansas’ Krizia Buck and Allison Murphy 8-4, dropping the UCA pairing to 2-6 on the season. Simona Horsikyan and Sasha Ruocco picked up their third victory of the season, defeating Bruna Vieira and Teresa Franco 8-3. The third doubles match saw Kristina Horsikyan and Anna Buyukyan earn their fifth doubles victory with an 8-1 win over Madison Patey and Mary Anne Sykes.
For the second day in a row, the Bears showed well in the singles competition, winning five of the six matches on the day. Simona Horsikyan defeated Mackenzie Bishop 6-4, 6-3 to earn her fourth victory of the season. Kristina Horsikyan, playing in the no.2 spot for the first time this season fell to Natalia Barrigan 3-6, 6-7, putting her at 0-1 in the no. 2 spot and 2-6 overall this season. Krizia Buck earned her fourth win of the season with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Bruna Vieira. Sasha Ruocco defeated Teresa Franco 6-2, 6-0 for her third victory of the season and Anna Buyukyan downed Madison Patey 6-1, 6-0 for her third victory of the season. In the final match of the day, Stephanie Gonzalez Valero earned her second win of the season in a 6-1, 6-0 defeat of Mary Anne Sykes.
Central Arkansas returns to the court on Saturday, playing host to fellow Southland Conference member Nicholls State.
