LAKE CHARLES, La. _ The University of Central Arkansas men's cross country team finished fifth Friday at the 2013 Southland Conference Championship at a soggy Ward 3 Rec Complex.
Senior Amos Gerber came in 11th for the Bears in a time of 25:43.3 over the 8K course. Senior Edward Limo was right behind in 13th in 25:47.6. Junior Jonathan Burgess finished 21st (26:16.6), while freshman Grant Williams was 33rd (26:48.4). Sophomore Albert Maeder finished 37th (27:03.9), while sophomore Ryan Davidson was 59th (27:57.8). Sophomore James Leonard came in 66th (28:36.1).
Lamar added the men's title to its women's title won earlier in the day, beating out second-place Stephen F. Austin. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi was third, followed by McNeese State, UCA, Sam Houston State, Houston Baptist, Incarnate Word, Oral Roberts, Abilene Christian, Southeastern Louisiana, Northwestern State, New Orleans and Nicholls.
