Conway, Ark. –
Central Arkansas Athletics' "Bears for a Cure" will kick off this evening at the Bill Stephens Soccer Complex, where the Central Arkansas women's soccer team will play host to Southeastern Louisiana at 7:00.
The Bears (6-4-2, 3-1-0 SLC) are looking for their best five-game start since joining the Southland in 2006. Central Arkansas' previous best is a 3-2-0 start in 2007. Offensively, the Bears are led by senior Adriana Lucar, whose seven goals and 17 points rank fifth and seventh in the SLC, respectively. The Bears have spread the offensive production around though, as Brooke Ballard (5), Shelby Wilson (4), Kate Koch (2), and Alex Wurst (2) have all scored multiple goals. Central Arkansas has split time in goal almost evenly among two keepers so far in SLC play. In four matches, Kaitlyn Keith has played 200 minutes in net, making ten saves and allowing five goals. In 180 minutes in goal, Lyndzey Goff has made ten saves as well.
Southeastern Louisiana (9-2-1, 4-1-0 SLC) currently sits in a three-way tie at the top of the Southland Conference table. The Lady Lions have allowed just two goals in five SLC matches. They are led offensively by the duo of Casey Peacock and Kelsey Salcido. Salcido's 19 points (6 goals, 7 assists) ties for third-most in the conference, while Peacock's 18 points are good for sixth-most in the league. Southeastern Louisiana is anchored in net by Hope Sabadash. Sabadash has made 56 saves on the season, collecting five shutouts and allowing just 0.43 goals per game. She leads the Southland in shutouts and save percentage (.918).
The match will kick off this weekend's Bears for a Cure ceremonies, which will also take place at volleyball and football on Saturday. "Bears for a Cure" shirts will be available for purchase at the Stephens on Friday night, as well as at the Prince Center when the Sugar Bears host Oral Roberts tomorrow at noon. Free pink pom-poms will be given to the first 200 fans at the Prince tomorrow and pink rally towels will be given to the first 500 fans at Estes Stadium tomorrow, where the Central Arkansas football team will host Nebraska-Kearney at 3:00 pm. A $100 donation will be provided for each goal and field goal that the Bears score on the soccer and football fields.
