CONWAY -- Despite a strong showing in doubles play, Central Arkansas came up just short in its home finale as the Sugar Bears fell 4-3 to UMKC on Sunday.

UCA took two of the three doubles pairings as Simona Horsikyan/Kazumi Otani doubled up Amelie Amsallem/Suzan Lisenby 8-4, and Kristina Horsikyan/Sasha Ruocco handled Madeline Schulte/Gabriela Pintos 8-5.

With the wins, K.Horsikyan/Ruocco run their doubles record to 13-7 for the season and S.Horsikyan/Otani improve to 11-9.

Both Kristina Horsikyan and Ruocco won in singles play as well, with Horsikyan getting a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Amsallem in No. 3 singles and Ruocco downing Lisenby 6-0, 6-3 at No. 5.  Horsikyan is now 10-4 for the season at No. 3. and has won her last four.

The Sugar Bears will finish out their season next weekend on the road at Nicholls and Southeastern Louisiana.
