CONWAY, Ark. _ The University of Central Arkansas Sugar Bears dropped a 6-1 match against Northwestern State in Southland Conference women's tennis action on Saturday at the UCA Tennis Complex.
Junior Kazumi Otani won UCA's only point in the match, beating Amy Williams 7-6, 6-4 at No. 5 singles. UCA's Sasha Ruocco and Kristina Horsikyan won their doubles match 8-3 over Linda Gamo/Amy Williams but Northwestern State got the point by winning the other two doubles matches.
Northwestern State's Olga Bazhanova beat UCA's Simona Horsikyan 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while Tatiana Larina topped UCA's Allison Murphy 6-2-6-1 at No. 2. Polina Konop beat UCA's Kristina Horsikyan 6-1, 6-2 in No. 3 singles, and Andrea Nedorostova downed Ruocco 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4.
Olga Leyshyna topped UCA's Stephanie Gonzalez Valero 6-3, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
In doubles action, Bazhanova/Konop beat Murphy/Allison Hartman 8-4, while Larina/Nedorostova topped Simona Horsikyan/Otani 8-3.
