Following a 5-0 rout of Texas Southern on Friday, Central Arkansas dominated this week's Southland Conference soccer weekly awards as senior defender Julie Foerster of Little Rock and junior goalkeeper Kelsey Gochnauer of Lee's Summit, Mo. were named Player of the Week at their respective positions, the league office announced Tuesday.
Foerster earns her third Southland Defensive Player of the Week honor after scoring her sixth career goal and playing an integral role in a defensive effort that allowed the Tigers just six shots and two on goal in the Bears' shutout victory.
Gochnauer earns her first Goalkeeper of the Week selection as a Bear after recording a pair of saves in UCA's second shutout of the season. Gochnauer currently ranks third in the Southland in goals against average and save percentage.
UCA junior Carrissa Rossi was also selected as an honorable mention for the league's Offensive Player of the Week.
It marks the first time since 2006 that UCA has had two players awarded in the same week.
The Bears return to play this Friday at home against Alcorn State at 5 p.m.
