HUNTSVILLE, Texas - The University of Central Arkansas tennis team lost to Sam Houston State 7-0 in Southland Conference competition on Saturday. The Bearkats improve to 7-6 overall and 4-4 in SLC play, while the Sugar Bears drop to 1-14 and 0-8.
All four of the doubles matches were close, with SHSU coming out on top in each. Nadia Dubyanskaya and Tatyana Postnikova defeated junior Allison Hartman and senior Lisa Mainz 8-5 in the top spot. Sheridan Currie and Cally Woerner downed senior Kati Andersen and sophomore Kazumi Otani 8-6 in number two doubles.
UCA freshman Simona Horsikyan fell to Imke Jagau 6-0, 7-5 in number one singles. Andersen lost to Currie 6-1, 7-6 in fourth singles and Anrinette Botah topped Hartman 6-4, 6-2 in number five singles.
The Sugar Bears will play at Stephen F. Austin for another Southland matchup on Sunday.
