CONWAY, Ark. - In their final home match of the season, the University of Central Arkansas tennis team lost to Southeastern Louisiana 7-0 in Southland Conference action on Sunday. It was the final home match for UCA seniors Kati Andersen, Lisa Mainz and Alex Rios.
The Sugar Bears (1-13, 0-7) won number one doubles with Mainz and junior Allison Hartman topping Mia Hagiu and Laura Verges 8-6. The Lady Lions (7-9, 2-5) took the doubles point by winning the other two matches. Isabel Brito and Audrey Chelini downed Rios and Andersen 8-5 in number three doubles.
UCA sophomore Kazumi Otani took the first set of number three singles, but Morgane Dadot rebounded to win 4-6, 6-4, 10-5. Andersen lost to Nina Schmied 6-0, 7-6, (8-6) in number four singles. Freshman Sasha Ruocco lost to Verges 6-4, 6-4 at number two singles.
The Sugar Bears will play their final four matches of the season on the road, with their next match at Sam Houston State on Saturday.
