CONWAY, Ark. - The University of Central Arkansas tennis team lost to Nicholls 5-2 in Southland Conference action on Saturday. The Sugar Bears (1-11, 0-6) will their final home match of the season on Sunday at noon against Southeastern Louisiana.
The Colonels (7-7, 2-3) picked up the doubles point by taking two of the three matches. UCA's number two doubles tandem of Sasha Ruocco and Kazumi Otani defeated Marina Ljosheveska and Sumana Kalyanasundram 8-4. Florina Nosca and Natalia Zamora, NSU's top doubles team, downed Lisa Mainz and Allison Hartman 8-2.
UCA freshman Simona Horsikyan needed a long third set tiebreaker to win the number one singles match against Nosca 4-6, 6-4, 15-13. UCA's other point came at number six singles with senior Alex Rios topping Melissa Harrison by default.
Hartman lost to Ljosheveska in a tiebreaker 2-6, 7-5, 10-5 at number five singles.
