SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The University of Central Arkansas tennis team fell to Southland Conference foe UTSA 6-1 on Saturday. The Roadrunners improve to 4-5 overall and 1-1 in league play, while the Sugar Bears drop to 1-10 and 0-5.
Junior Allison Hartman picked up UCA's only point by defeating Katie Ottenbreit 6-3, 6-3 in number five singles. Freshman Simona Horsikyan took Stefanie Peana to a third set tiebreaker in number one singles, with Peana coming out on top 6-3, 6-7, 10-7.
Sophomore Kazumi Otani lost number three singles to Kavya Menon 7-5, 6-1 and senior Alex Rios fell in number six singles to Mariel Maffezzolli 6-2, 7-6.
UTSA took all three doubles matches by the score of 8-4.
UCA will be off until March 30 when they play at Arkansas-Fort Smith.
