RUSTON, La. - The University of Central Arkansas tennis team lost their second consecutive match in Louisiana on Saturday, falling to Louisiana Tech 6-1. With the loss, the Sugar Bears fall to 0-5 on the season, while the Lady Techsters improve to 3-0.
UCA senior Alex Rios won her third straight match at number six singles, defeating Sophie Heldoorn 6-4, 7-6. Freshman Simona Horsiykan lost a close match at number one singles, falling to Elne Barnard 7-5, 6-3. LTU's Anna Zureck defeated Sasha Ruocco 6-2, 6-4 at number three singles, and sophomore Kazumi Otani lost to Maartje de Wit 7-5, 6-2 at the number four spot.
Rios and senior Kati Andersen won number three doubles 8-5 against de Wit and Heldoorn. Ruocco and Ozami fell to Melanie Urvoy and Alena Erofeyeva 8-6 at number two doubles.
The Sugar Bears will wrap up their three-match swing in the Pelican State with Southland Conference foe Northwestern State on Sunday.
