MONROE, La. - The University of Central Arkansas tennis team began three-match weekend in Louisiana with 6-1 defeat at hands of Louisiana-Monroe on Friday.
Senior Alex Rios picked up the only point for the Sugar Bears (0-4), topping Taylor Shepherd 6-1, 6-2 in number six singles. Senior Kati Andersen lost to the Warhawks' (3-1) Ana Burjaili 7-5, 6-3 at number five singles. In number two singles, senior Lisa Mainz fell to Monica Winkel 6-0, 6-3.
Mainz and junior Allison Hartman lost number one singles to Letha Gaigher and Medy Blankvoort 8-4.
The Sugar Bears will play at Louisiana Tech at 10 a.m. on Saturday, then travel to Northwestern State for a Southland Conference match on Sunday.
