JONESBORO, Ark. - The University of Central Arkansas tennis team was defeated by Arkansas State 7-0 in the Sugar Bears' first non-conference match of the season.
Freshman Sasha Ruocco had UCA's closest matchup, losing to Janie Nowland 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 at number two singles. Sophomore Kazumi Otani fell to Jenny Herring 6-4, 6-4 at number three singles and freshman Simona Horsikyan lost to Emily Crowe 6-3, 6-2 in the top singles spot.
Seniors Kati Andersen and Alex Rios fell to Herring and Menna Kamal 8-2 in number three doubles.
The Sugar Bears will travel west on when they face Arkansas-Fort Smith on the road on Wednesday.
