DALLAS- The University of Central Arkansas tennis team dropped their first match of the season, falling to Southland Conference foe Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 7-0 on Friday night.
The Islanders (1-1) swept through the doubles matches, but the Sugar Bears kept them close. UCA number one team of senior Lisa Mainz and junior Allison Hartman feel to Mirna Cicak and Stefania Nicolae 8-6. Seniors Kati Andersen and Alex Rios lost to LeAnne Mascall and Nadia Filmalter 8-3 at number three doubles.
Islander Bianca Discordia topped freshman Sasha Ruocco 6-4, 6-0 in number three singles. Andersen lost to Sandra Burges 6-2, 6-3 in number five singles and Mia Matuszak defeated Rios 6-3, 6-2.
The Sugar Bears will play Arkansas State in Jonesboro on Monday at 9 a.m.
