CONWAY, Ark.- In his first game and first start for Central Arkansas, Donovyn Omolo was named the UAC Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday morning.

Omolo, a Sophomore Quarterback from Conway, Ark., was outstanding in the Bears season opener at #22 UT Martin last Thursday night as the Bears beat the Skyhawks 36-24. The sophomore quarterback threw for 3 touchdowns, went 20-27 on passing attempts and totaled 243 yards in the air. Omolo also rushed the ball 12 times, leading the team in rushing yards with 118 net yards on the ground. 

Head Coach Nathan Brown, "Donovyn had a great first week of football. Getting recognized by the conference is always a nice gesture for our athletes. I am excited to watch him build off Thursday night and get better. I know he would be the first to tell you that he left some stuff out there and can improve greatly. He is a competitor and strives to be the best he can be. This is a credit to his offensive linemen and skill positions helping him get this weekly award."

The Bears will open their home schedule this Saturday, taking on UAC opponent West Florida at 6 pm on the Stripes.
