Conway, Ark.- The Central Arkansas Bears (16-17, 5-7) and the Lipscomb University Bisons (14-15, 7-5) will play a three-game ASUN series this weekend in Nashville, Tenn. First pitch on Friday is set for 6 p.m., Saturday 2 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. This weekend marks the halfway point of the ASUN regular season schedule, after this weekend the schedule will start over for the second round of games at the other locations. The Bears and Bisons will play for the 18th time as ASUN opponents on Friday, the Bisons have a 9-8 lead in the series. Last season the Bisons had a 4-3 advantage winning four of the six regular season match-ups but the Bears beat the Bisons in the ASUN tournament in DeLand, Fla. These two teams will play one more series later this season in Conway on May 14-16 to wrap up the regular season.
Earlier this week, the Bears got a mid-week home win over the Golden Lions when they scored eight runs in the 7th inning winning the game 9-6. Sam Reynolds did a lot of the damage in the big inning with a bases clearing, 3 rbi double. Jagger Schattle continues to swing the bat well hitting a no doubt HR in the 1st inning, he's on a four game hitting streak and has homered in the last two games. Jake Jones got the win on the mound after getting the Bears out of jam in the 7th and pitching a scoreless 8th. Jacob Pannell had a solid start going five innings, giving up just one run. In ASUN games this season the Bears are batting .254 with 101 hits and a .430 slg% and their opponents are batting .285 with 118 hits and a .488 slg%.
The Bisons are coming off of a loss in their midweek game, when they lost a close game at MTSU in Murfreesboro, 3-5. Infielder Cam Pruitt is leading the team in most of the offensive statistics. He's batting .355, scored 16 runs, has 39 hits including 8 doubles, 30 rbi, has a .536 slg% and .381 ob%. The Bisons top pitcher has been reliever Adam Jamison. He has pitched 30.1 innings in 10 appearances including one start. He has a 2.97 era, 1.55 WHIP, a 2-0 record, 2 saves, 26 strikeouts, 13 walks and batters are hitting just .281 against him. In ASUN game this season the Bisons are batting .306 with 132 hits and a .481 slg% and their opponents are batting .302 with 134 hits and a .470 slg%.
