Conway, Ark.- The Central Arkansas Bears (11-10, 1-2) and the Bellarmine Knights (6-13, 1-2) will play a three-game ASUN series in Conway, Ark. First pitch on Friday is set for 6 p.m., Saturday 4 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. The Bears and Knights have played 18 times with the Bears holding a 14-4 advantage in the all time series. Last season the Bears won four out of six games as the two teams played two three game series, home and home. The Bears and Knights will play again later this season in Louisville on April 24-26.
Earlier this week the Bears had a tough loss in Louisiana, losing 4-5 at La Tech.
Jacob Pannell started the game on the mound and threw 5.1 strong innings giving up 4 runs on just 3 hits and striking out 6 batters.
Jake Jones pitched the Bears out of a jam when he entered the game in the 8
th inning with 1 out and the bases loaded as he struck out the 2 batters he faced to end the inning.
Keon Moseni delivered a pinch hit, two out double in the 7
th inning to tie the game 4-4.
Zeb Allen hit another home run; he is now three away from the UCA career home run record. But the Bulldogs got a run in the bottom of the 9
th to win the game. Over all this season, the Bears are batting .261 with 182 hits and a .401 slg% and their opponents are batting .272 with 192 hits and a .411 slg%.
The Knights are coming off of a midweek home win over Southern Indiana, 3-2. The Knights threw 8 pitchers in the game but gave up just 7 hits, 1 earned run and only walked 4 batters. Landon Akers had 2 hits in the game and scored one of the Knights 3 runs, he is also leading the team in at bats and hits this season. Cole Huett is leading the team in batting average at .357 and slg% at .536. Over all this season, the Knights are batting .260 with 165 hits and a .416 slg% and their opponents are batting .324 with 216 hits and a .522 slg%.
