Conway, Ark.- The Central Arkansas Bears (10-7, 0-0) and the Eastern Kentucky Colonels (5-12, 0-0) will start the ASUN season this weekend with a three-game series in Richmond, Ky. First pitch on Friday is set for 5 p.m., Saturday 1 p.m. and Sunday noon (all times Central). The Bears and Colonels have played 18 times with the Bears holding a 10-8 advantage in the series. Last season the Bears swept the Colonels in Conway but the Colonels won the series in Kentucky 2-1.
Earlier this week the Bears got their 10
th win of the season beating Oral Roberts at home on Tuesday. The Bears had a big 2
nd inning and the Golden Eagles had a big 4
th inning and eventually tied the Bears in the 6
th inning before the Bears pulled ahead in the 8
th.
Zeb Allen hit another home run while
Landon Carter scored two runs and had an rbi.
Patrick Fernandez got the start and pitched three innings without allowing a run and struck out four batters.
Braxton Haywood closed out the game throwing two scoreless innings, striking out five batters and allowed no hits. Overall this season, the Bears are batting .259 with 146 hits and a .392 slg% and their opponents are batting .264 with 152 hits and a .387 slg%.
The Colonels are coming off of a midweek road game at Middle Tennessee, the Colonels lost that one 17-0 in 7 innings. So far this season, the Colonels have allowed 146 runs while scoring 92. Jacob Price has the lowest era on the team at 3.80 going 1-1 in his 5 appearances on the mound.
