CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas women's soccer team remains on the road for the next one, playing at Eastern Kentucky University Thursday afternoon. Kickoff in Richmond, Kentucky is set for 3 p.m. CT.
The Bears (4-5-3, 1-1-1 UAC) earned a draw last time out, picking up a 1-1 result at Abilene Christian on Sunday. After taking a 1-0 lead in the first half, the Bear defense held on as long as possible before surrendering a score, with the central Arkansas defense weathering 26 shots, including 14 on target in the match.
Anna Kathryn Harrell had one of her best games as a Bear in the effort, making a career-high 13 saves to get a result on the road, earning UAC Goalkeeper of the Week in the process.
Sakiko Manabe tallied the score for the Bears, her third of the season. She is the fourth Bear to log three or more goals this season, and is tied for second on the team in points with ten.
Central Arkansas went 1-1 against the Colonels last season, with each team picking up a win at their respective home field. In Conway,
Megan Moudy opened the scoring with a sixth-minute PK, and Central Arkansas went on to claim a 3-2 final score.
Eastern Kentucky welcomes the Bears with a 7-4-1 overall record and a 3-0 start to UAC play. This past weekend, the Colonels grabbed a 3-2 win over North Alabama, opening the scoring with a sixth-minute PK. Four of the five combined goals were scored in the first half, putting EKU up 3-1 at the break.
The Colonels are led in scoring this season by Avery May, who leads the team with five goals and four assists, totaling 14 points. She is the only Colonel with double-digit points, and leads the team with 45 shots and 21 on frame.
