Bears Get a Huge Road Win in Georgia

CARROLLTON, Ga. — Central Arkansas (10-10, 5-2 ASUN) defeated West Georgia (9-10, 3-4 ASUN) 86-65 on Thursday night at The Coliseum. This victory marks the first 10-win season for the Bears since the 2021-22 season. The last time UCA won 3 conference games in a row was the 2018-19 season. Central Ark. capitalized on turnovers tonight, scoring 27 points off West Georgia's 22 turnovers.

The first half opened with Central Arkansas taking an early lead with a layup by Malchiah Marable at 19:30. West Georgia responded with a 3-pointer from Brady Hardewig at 19:06, setting the stage for a competitive half. Shelton Williams-Dryden was a key scorer for the Wolves, contributing with multiple points in the paint. Central Ark. capitalized on turnovers, with Camren Hunter's 3-pointer at 00:04 capping off a strong half. The Bears led 43-34 at halftime, benefiting from 13 assists and six steals.

Central Ark. extended their lead in the second half with a commanding 43-31 performance against the Wolves. Ty Robinson initiated the scoring with a jumper just 13 seconds into the half, and later added a crucial 3-pointer and two free throws to maintain momentum. Luke Moore contributed with a layup and 3-pointer, part of his overall strong presence with multiple assists. Hunter was pivotal on both ends, adding a steal and a fast-break layup. West Georgia's Hardewig attempted to rally with two successful 3-pointers, but the Bears maintained control, highlighted by Cole McCormick's fast-break dunk to solidify their lead. McCormick totaled a career-high of 15 points during the game, while Truman Byrne also achieved a career-high with 12 points.
