CONWAY, Ark. — Central Arkansas (8-10, 3-2 ASUN) edged Jacksonville (6-12, 1-4 ASUN) 62-60 at the Farris Center on Thursday night. Central Ark. overcame a 10-point halftime deficit, scoring 37 points in the second half to secure the win.
The first half began with Central Arkansas taking an early lead through
Malchiah Marable's layup, assisted by
Camren Hunter, who recorded a career-high of 8 defensive rebounds during the game. Jacksonville quickly responded, with Jason Thirdkill Jr. tying the game on a tip-in.
Ty Robinson's 3-pointer and layup, with assists from
Luke Moore, helped the Bears build a narrow lead, but Hayden Wood's 3-point shooting for Jacksonville kept the visitors close. The Dolphins pulled ahead with a scoring run that included Chris Lockett's 3-pointer and layups from Charles Caporaso, establishing a 35-25 lead by the end of the half.
The second half was marked by intense back-and-forth action between the Bears and the Dolphins. Jacksonville's Evan Sterck started strong with a layup in the opening seconds, but Central Ark. quickly responded with a dunk from Marable. But Jacksonville extended their lead with a 3-pointer, pushing the score to 40-27. Central Ark., however, mounted a comeback, with Moore hitting a crucial 3-pointer at the 2:31 mark, giving them a 60-57 lead. As time wound down, Jacksonville's Thirdkill Jr.'s tip-in cut the deficit to one point, but Moore's free throw sealed a 62-60 victory for the Bears.
Luke Moore's performance was exceptional, as he achieved a career-high and season high with 19 points.
