Heartbreak for the Bears in OT at EKU

RICHMOND, Ky. — Central Arkansas (7-10, 2-2 ASUN) fell to Eastern Kentucky (6-11, 2-2 ASUN) 79-75 in a closely contested matchup at Baptist Health Arena on Saturday night. This marked the Bears' second consecutive overtime loss on the road. Despite recording nine steals and scoring 30 points in the paint, the Colonels' 19 successful 3-pointers proved decisive.

Central Arkansas opened the first half with a strong start, jumping to a 12-0 lead with key contributions from Camren Hunter, who sank consecutive 3-pointers, and Luke Moore, who added a layup. The Colonels responded, narrowing the gap with a 3-pointer from Austin Ball at the 6:11 mark, bringing the score to 25-26. The back-and-forth continued as Juan Cranford Jr. hit a 3-pointer with 1:58 left, giving the Colonels a 38-37 advantage. Yvens Paul extended the lead to three with a dunk, closing the half at 40-37 in favor of Eastern Kentucky.

Both teams battled through a tense second half, marked by multiple lead changes and ties. Ty Robinson was instrumental for the Bears, scoring a layup at 17:07 to give them a brief lead. Luke Moore added a crucial 3-pointer with 5:10 left, narrowing Eastern Kentucky's advantage to 62-60. In the final seconds, Hunter's jumper tied the score at 69-69, forcing the game into overtime.

Hunter scored three consecutive jumpers for Central Arkansas, giving them a brief lead at 75-71. Ball responded with a 3-pointer, narrowing the gap to one point. Turner Buttry then hit another 3-pointer with 52 seconds left, pushing Eastern Kentucky into a two-point lead. Cranford sealed the half by making two free throws, extending Eastern Kentucky's advantage to 79-75.
