CONWAY, Ark. – Central Arkansas Cross Country and Track & Field coach
Josey Weaver has been signed to a contract extension, keeping the four-time ASUN Champion in Conway for the next several years.
"Danae and I are forever grateful to be Bears. A special thank you to Dr. Davis &
Matt Whiting for putting their trust and faith in our program. We love calling Conway, Arkansas home," Weaver said of his extension. "We are gearing up to pursue more championships this year and it brings us great joy to let our student athletes know we are here to stay."
Weaver has made a home for himself in Conway, starting his tenure with the Bears sweeping the ASUN track championships this past season, winning both men's and women's indoor and outdoor championships in his third season as head coach. He and his staff also continue to attract local talent, allowing Arkansas student-athletes to chase gold and compete against some of the best programs in the country from right here in the Natural State.
The Bears, under Weaver and his staff, have basically rewritten the Central Arkansas record books over the last three years, setting records in nearly every event, with notable increases in throws and sprints on both teams.
"When Coach Weaver arrived in Conway during the summer of 2022, he shared a clear vision and expectation for our track and field and cross country programs. In just three years, Coach Weaver has executed on that plan and taken both programs to new heights, academically and athletically," Athletic Director
Matt Whiting said. "I am excited that he and Danae will continue to call Conway home, and look forward to working with him and his staff to build on our recent success."
