CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. _ The University of Central Arkansas will be on the road for its next-to-last ASUN series this weekend.

UCA and Austin Peay will begin their three-game series at 6 p.m. Friday at Raymond C. Hand Park. The Governors (38-11, 21-3) are leading the ASUN Gold Division standings and have already secured a spot in the postseason conference tournament in two weeks in DeLand, Fla.

UCA (18-27, 11-13) is still battling to grab its spot in the tournament for the second consecutive year after reaching the semifinals a year ago at Stetson's Melching Field. The Bears are tied for third place with North Alabama in the Gold Division with six league games remaining. The top four teams from each division make up the tournament field.

UCA and UNA, which close the regular season against each other next weekend in Conway, have a four-game cushion over fifth-place Bellarmine and Eastern Kentucky, who are tied at 7-17.

Those two teams meet next weekend at Bellarmine to close the regular season.

UCA was swept by APSU back on March 21-23 at Bear Stadium. The Governors completed their sixth ASUN sweep of the season last weekend at home against Bellarmine.

The Governors lead the conference in hitting by 56 points over No. 2 UCA. APSU has a .336 team batting average while UCA's is .280. The Governors, who rank third in the nation in batting average, also have a league-best 97 home runs, 43 more than second-place Lipscomb (54). APSU ranks sixth nationally, just behind Arkansas.

In the first series in Conway, UCA actually four home runs to APSU's three and hit .325 to .336 for the Governors. However, APSU won 8-5, 12-9 and 9-5. UCA was 5 for 5 on stolen base attempts, including 4 for 4 by sophomore outfielder Zeb Allen, who also hit .500 for the weekend with 4 doubles and 1 home run.

Game times this weekend are 6 p.m, Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
