THREE BEARS EARN ALL-ASUN RECOGNITION



CONWAY, Ark. _ The University of Central Arkansas Bears had three players honored Monday when the All-Atlantic Sun Conference baseball teams were announced.

Third baseman Bryce Ceremenelli and left fielder Zeb Allen were both third-team All-ASUN selections, while shortstop Nathan Negre was named to the ASUN All-Freshman team.

Cermenelli earned All-ASUN honors despite a season-ending knee injury against Lipscomb on April. 19. At the time of the injury, the senior from Norco, Calif., was the No. 2 hitter in the conference with a .395 average. He also finished the regular season as the team-leader in hits (60) and on-base percentage (.461) despite missing the final 14 games. Cermenelli had just one error on the season and had a .990 fielding percentage.

Cermenelli had 19 multi-hit games and had a streak of 24 consecutives games reaching base.

Allen, a sophomore from Fort Smith, Ark., is a two-time selection, having been named to the third team last season as well as to the All-Freshman team. Allen has started all 52 games this season and is hitting .298 with 59 hits, a team-high 16 doubles and a team-best .556 slugging percentage. He is also tied for the lead in triples (4) and home runs (9) and has stolen 15 bases to lead the Bears.

  Allen has 16 multi-hit games and 11 multi-RBI games.

Negre, a freshman shortstop from Aurora, Mo., has started 49 games and is hitting .298, with 59 hits and 36 runs batted in. His 22 multi-hit games leads the Bears. He closed out his home season on Saturday by going 3 for 4 with 3 RBI against North Alabama, adding to his nine multi-RBI outings.

The Bears have advanced to the ASUN Championship for the second consecutive season and will be the fourth seed from the Gold Division. They will face Graphite Division top seed Stetson at 3 p.m. (CST) Tuesday on the Hatters' home field at Melching Field. The first-round losers will play again on Wednesday, with the winners advancing to play Thursday.

All games in the tournament will be carried live on The Bear 91.3 and on ESPN+.
