Bears Fall to Lions in Commerce

COMMERCE, Texas — Central Ark. fell to East Texas A&M, 75-68, on Sunday night at the Field House. Despite leading at halftime, Central Ark. [4-6, 0-0 ASUN] was outscored by 10 points in the second half.

Central Arkansas and East Texas A&M engaged in a tightly contested first half, with neither team gaining a significant edge. The Bears built a modest lead with contributions from  Ty Robinson, who hit a three-pointer at 17:34, and Cole McCormick, who added a dunk midway through the half. Despite East Texas A&M's efforts to keep pace, highlighted by Ronnie Harrison's three-point shot with 17 seconds remaining, Luke Moore of Central Arkansas nailed a three-pointer at the buzzer, giving his team a 35-32 lead at the end of the half.

In a tightly contested second half, East Texas A&M outscored Central Arkansas 43-33 to secure a 75-68 victory. Damian Garcia's 3-pointer at the 19:20 mark tied the score early at 35-35. The Bears responded with a series of layups from Robinson and McCormick to maintain pressure. However, Gianni Hunt played a pivotal role for East Texas A&M, contributing a layup and a 3-pointer late in the half to extend their lead. In the final seconds, Hunt's free throws solidified the home team's win.
