CONWAY, Ark. – After a dynamite week on the court, the Central Arkansas volleyball team received two ASUN Weekly Awards, with Caylan Koons being named the conference's Setter of the Week and McKinzee Haas earning a second Freshman of the Week award.
 
Koons earned her first Setter of the Week award after averaging a ridiculous 11.29 assists per set over two matches last week. The senior totaled 79 in seven sets, posting 33 in a three-set sweep of Queens and 46 in a four-set win over West Georgia. Her outings marked the fifth and sixth times this season that she's averaged more than ten assists per set in a match.
 
In addition to her passing, Koons has continually expanded her game into other facets of the sport, and she added 15 digs, six blocks, three kills and two aces. The Springdale native ranks third in the ASUN in assists per set during conference play, averaging 10.36 over 28 sets.
 
Haas continues to shine in the middle for the Sugar Bears, and added two more solid statlines to her freshman season. Against Queens, she had five kills, four digs and four blocks, including two solos, and continues to be an efficient attacker, making just one error in 12 attacks. Then, against West Georgia, she logged 13 kills on .667 percent hitting, four blocks and three digs, giving her weekly totals of 18 kills, ten blocks and seven digs.
 
The Cabot native has been a rock in the middle for the Sugar Bears, logging 104 kills on .325 hitting this year, and she leads the Sugar Bears with 67 total blocks. Since the start of ASUN play, she is third in the conference with 1.19 blocks per set, and fourth with 32 total blocks.
 
The Sugar Bears will play two matches at home this weekend, playing Bellarmine at 6 p.m. on Friday and EKU at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
