Sugar Bears Eye Big Road Weekend vs. Queens & West Georgia

CONWAY, Ark. — The Central Arkansas Sugar Bears volleyball team embarks on a key two-match road swing this weekend, taking on Queens University of Charlotte on Friday, Oct. 17 at 5 p.m., followed by a trip to West Georgia in Carrollton, Ga., on Sunday, Oct. 19 at noon.

Season Snapshot & Statistical Profile
  • UCA enters with an 8–8 overall record and a commanding 5–1 mark in ASUN play.
  • Against all competition, UCA has amassed 695 kills on 1,890 attempts, while opponents counter with 785 kills on 2,003 attempts.
  • UCA's team attack efficiency sits at .230, compared to .238 by its opponents.
  • In setting and offense: UCA has recorded 604 assists (10.41 assists per set).
Standout Performers
  • Laci Bohannan leads the team in kills with 173, averaging 3.15 kills per set.
  • Gabby Tuiaana ranks second in kills with 143.
  • On the setting side, Caylan Koons has delivered 481 assists this season (8.29 assists per set).
  • In the back row, Alexis McDaniel tops the charts with 240 digs (4.14 digs per set).
  • McKinzee Haas leads the team in blocking with 57 total blocks.
These numbers reflect a well-balanced UCA squad — a capable offense, sturdy back-row defense, and a moderately active net presence. The margins, however, are thin; control of serve, limiting errors, and hitting smart in transition will likely decide matches.

Matchups & Key Strategies
  • At Queens (Oct. 17, 5 p.m.)
    • Queens will be dangerous at home, forcing UCA to be precise in serve-receive and exploit opponent vulnerabilities. UCA must capitalize on sideout opportunities and prevent Queens from gaining rhythm in their offense.
  • At West Georgia (Oct. 19, 12 p.m.)
    • Coming off travel, UCA must be mentally sharp. West Georgia, new to the ASUN environment, could pose surprises. The Sugar Bears should emphasize depth—rotate aggressively to keep energy high and stress the opponent's passers.
