CONWAY, Ark. – After helping the Bears tame the Lions on Saturday, Central Arkansas football's
Landen Chambers was named the UAC Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Chambers was instrumental in the win over North Alabama, rushing for 184 yards and three touchdowns against the Lions. His scoring gave the Bears the first points of the day, and two more TDs in the second quarter helped break the game open before halftime.
The sophomore running back is the third Bear to claim a weekly award this season, after posting his fourth-straight 100-yard game. Chambers leads the Bears with 743 rushing yards and six touchdowns this season, averaging 106 yards per game. Chambers ranks fifth in the nation in total rush yards, ninth in rushing yards per game, and is top-20 in rushing TDs.
Chambers and the Bears take their bye week this weekend, getting a week of rest and recovery before taking to the road again next week. The Bears' next game is at West Georgia, with a 1 p.m. CT kickoff against the Wolves on October 25
