STUNT Battles Despite Saturday Slump

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Central Arkansas stunt team put together two quality outings to start the weekend, but dropped both games on Saturday. After battling to an 18-2 final against Missouri Baptist, the Bears nearly triumphed over the hosting Drury Panthers, falling 14-8.

The Bears were neck and neck with the Spartans, splitting the first quarter 3-2 in favor of Missouri Baptist. And though the halftime score was 6-2, Central Arkansas had shown that the first-year program had come to play. The Spartans scored 10 points in the second half, pulling away in the final quarter to start the Bears' weekend with a loss.

But Central Arkansas was undeterred heading into the second game of the day against Drury, even after the host team turned off the arena lights to make their entrance. And it showed in the first quarter, as the Bears took the second and fourth points of the frame to keep the score level at 2-2. The Panthers took three of four points in the second quarter to take a 5-3 lead into halftime. The third quarter went the same as the second, putting the Bears down 8-4 entering the final quarter, but well within striking distance. But some late points in favor of the home team eventually put the lead out of reach, ending 14-8 in favor of Drury.

The Bears close the regular season tomorrow, facing Texas Woman's University at 8 a.m. and Trevecca Nazarene at 10 a.m.
