NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Central Arkansas STUNT team went 1-3 in Nashville this weekend, earning a win over Northern Kentucky while competing in Treveca Nazarene's tournament.
The Bears opened the weekend against California Baptist, playing the preeminent team in the country to start the four-game stand. Cal Baptist did Cal Baptist things, blanking the Bears 24-0 in game one.
Central Arkansas bounced back in the second game of the day against Northern Kentucky, picking up the team's fifth win of the season, setting a new program mark. The teams were tied at 4-4 after the first quarter, going point for point in partner stunts. The Norse took the second quarter 7-4 to lead by three at the break, and out of halftime, the Bears outscored WKU 6-4 to cut the lead to one with one quarter to go. Down to the wire, Central Arkansas outscored the Norse 13-10 in the final frame, capturing a 27-25 victory.
The Bears played Mercyhurst in game three of the weekend, and inch by inch, Mercyhurst pulled away throughout the four quarters. The Bears trailed 5-2 after one and 10-5 after two. The Bears then gave up the third 6-5 and the fourth 17-12, dropping the final score of 33-22.
Game four, the Bears played Hope International, dropping a 27-4 final score to close the weekend. Central Arkansas earned points in the first, second and fourth quarters, but couldn't keep pace with Hope International.
Central Arkansas has one more weekend of regular season action before the conference tournament, playing four games in Lexington, Kentucky next weekend.
