CONWAY, S.C. – The University of Central Arkansas beach volleyball team split a pair of matches on the Beach, dropping the early match with Coastal Carolina and then securing a victory over Tusculum. UCA now sits at 3-13 ahead of next weekend's trip to Clarksville, Tennessee.
UCA 0 – COASTAL CAROLINA 5
Once again, CCU did a really good job at jumping out to a big advantage early, making it nearly impossible for the Beach Bears to come back. One big thing in the past two matches with the Chants is that the Bears have not given up in the second set when Coastal dominates the first. Brooke Kuball and Katie Atkinson in the No. 1 spot for UCA did a good job of that, keeping things interesting in the second set, but coming up just short, 21-18. UCA now falls to 0-3 all-time against Coastal.
UCA 3 – TUSCULUM 2
The Bears got off to a great start in their third victory of the season, as freshman Audrey Cathcart and sophomore Madelyn White dominated in their match, winning 21-9 and 21-14, setting the tone for the rest of the Beach Bears. Naya Tan and Anna Linskey earned a gutsy win in their match, beating the No. 2 team for the Pioneers in two sets, closing things out with a 21-12 second set win. Payton Sproule and Anna Collums continued to play well together this season, taking down Tusculum's No. 3 team of Marsh and Rushing in two sets. UCA avenges Friday morning's loss to the Pioneers and are now 1-2 all-time against Tusculum.
Next weekend, UCA will take part in the Stacheville Beach Bash in Clarksville, Tennessee against the likes of Austin Peay, Eastern Kentucky, and North Alabama between Friday, March 22nd and Saturday, March 23rd. To keep up with all things Beach Bears, follow @UCABeachVB on Twitter/X.
