DALLAS, Texas – The Central Arkansas STUNT team picked up its first win in program history, splitting two games on Saturday. The morning began with a triumph over Southern Nazarene before the Bears fell to Kentucky in the afternoon game.
"Earning our first win was such a surreal experience. Our athletes were so excited and you could immediately see the shift in their confidence," head coach Alyssa Morrow said of the win. "It was almost like a switch flipped and they finally realized that they are capable of accomplishing great things this season."
The Bears picked up three points in the first quarter, and led by six at the halfway point. In the team exercises in the fourth quarter, Central Arkansas racked up eight points while holding Southern Nazarene to just two.
"It's intimidating being a first-year team in our division, but tat win today is all that we needed to ignite a fire that will have a huge impact on the rest of the year," Morrow added. "If we can go into every tournament with the same energy and drive that we had this morning, there's no telling what our team can accomplish."
Though the Bears dropped the afternoon game against Kentucky, the STUNT team battled, trying to execute the routines with all the technical ability and precision necessary. But facing a quality Kentucky team proved to be a learning experience more than a triumph for Central Arkansas.
