CONWAY, Ark. _ The University of Central Arkansas Bears took home two player of the week honors on Monday, and added a national player of the week award as well.
Senior defensive end
David Walker was named the UAC Defensive Player of the Week and the Reese's Senior Bowl National Defensive Player of the Week. Redshirt freshman wide receiver
Malachi Henry was named the UAC Freshman of the Week.
Walker, from Stuttgart, Ark., broke the UCA career record for tackles for loss with 3.0 in Saturday's 24-19 win over North Alabama. He now has 54.5 for his career, breaking Jonathan Woodard's record of 53.0. Against UNA, Walker had nine total tackles (six solos), 3.0 tackles for loss, a half sack, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. The three forced fumbles also set a school single-game record.
Henry, from Van Buren, Ark., had two receptions and both went for touchdowns. He caught touchdown passes of 21 and 69 yards in the second half as UCA improved to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in UAC play.
No. 9/11 UCA is on the road at Utah Tech in St. George, Utah, this week, with a 3 p.m. (CST) kickoff.
