ATLANTA, Ga. – After a dominant, record setting week, sophomore forward Pietro Fontana was named the ASUN's Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. It marks the second weekly award for the men's soccer team, who picked up their first ASUN win of the season on the back of Fontana.
 
The Italy native was absolutely electric on Saturday, powering the Bears to a massive 6-2 victory with a career-best four goals. Responding to an early goal from the Royals, Fontana scored twice in the first half, sending the Bears into the break with a 2-1 lead. But after halftime, the sophomore forward decided he wasn't done yet, scoring less than two and a half minutes into the second half before adding his fourth goal in the 62^nd minute.
 
Fontana became the second Central Arkansas player to ever score four times in a single match, the other being Niklas Brodaki in 2017. Saturday's line was also Fontana's third-career multi-goal game, and vaulted him up the leaderboards, both in the ASUN and nationally. After his wildfire Saturday, Fontana boosted his scoring, now at seven goals, to second in the entire nation, trailing the country's leader by just a single goal. He also now ranks first in the ASUN in scoring. 

Tuesday's award is the second of the season for both the Bears and Fontana, who also won it after scoring a brace in the win over Air Force. He becomes the third Bear to win multiple ASUN weekly awards in the same season, joining Brodacki and goalkeeper Marc Olsen, who both won a pair in 2019.

The Bears are back in action this weekend, traveling to Nashville, Tenn., for a rematch of last season's ASUN Championship final against the Lipscomb Bisons.
