CONWAY, Ark. _ The University of Central Arkansas Bears will host the Arkansas State Red Wolves in the rematch Tuesday at Bear Stadium.
The Bears (11-12) and Red Wolves (7-14) will meet at 6 p.m. at Bear Stadium.Â
UCA won the opening matchup 7-4 on March 14 in Jonesboro. The Bears overcame an early 3-0 deficit after two innings and outscored the Red Wolves 7-1 the rest of the way to take the win. UCA had nine hits, including the first career home run from freshman
Kade Seldomridge. Junior first baseman
A.J. Mendolia was 2 for 4 with 3 runs batted in.
Since that meeting, UCA has gone 3-4, with a three-game ASUN Conference sweep of North Alabama at home and road losses at No. 1 LSU and three setbacks at Jacksonville last weekend.
The Red Wolves have lost seven consecutive games, beginning with the UCA loss. Their scheduled three-game Sun Belt Conference series with James Madison last weekend was cut back to one game on Sunday due weather. JMU pulled out a 9-4 victory in 10 innings at Tomlinson Stadium-Kell Field. That loss dropped ASU to 0-4 in league play.
Mendolia continues to lead the Bears in hitting at .400 and has reached base in all 23 games this season. Will French is one of three Red Wolves hitting above .300 with a 373 average.Â
Freshman
Coleman MacRae of Rogers, (2-1) is expected to get his first start on the mound for the Bears in his eighth overall appearance. ASU will send out Hunter Draper (0-2) for his sixth start of the season.Â
