Volleyball Announces 2022 Schedule

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Central Arkansas volleyball team has announced its 2022 fall schedule, as the Sugar Bears get set for their second season as members of the ASUN. With a 28-game slate, the schedule provides a challenging non-conference schedule before embarking on the conference portion of the year.

"We're very excited about our schedule this season," Head coach John Newberry said. "It's nice to be able to add a team to our conference to balance out the travel."

The fall opens on August 26th, as the Sugar Bears head to Springfield, Mo., to participate in a three-game set at Missouri State. There, the team will also face Tennessee Tech and Oral Roberts to kick off the season. Remaining on the road, the Sugar Bears then travel to Houston, Texas to play in a tournament hosted by the Houston Cougars, playing against Power 5 opponents Alabama and Oregon State.

Finally playing at home, Central Arkansas will host a tournament over the weekend of September 9th and 10th, battling Louisiana-Monroe, Southern Illinois at Carbondale and Louisiana Tech as the first games of the home schedule.

The following weekend takes the Sugar Bears to the Bluff City, where the team takes part in a tournament hosted by the Memphis Tigers. After that, the Sugar Bears stay on the road to begin conference play, opening with Jacksonville State and Kennesaw State on September 23rd and 24th, respectively. The conference home opener is scheduled for September 30th against Eastern Kentucky, with a home match against Bellarmine shortly after.

On the road again, the Sugar Bears travel to the Sunshine State for a pair of games in Florida, against North Florida and Jacksonville for the first road weekend of October. Florida Gulf Coast and Stetson come to Conway for a couple of home games on October 14th and 16th.

The Sugar Bears travel again for the next couple of weekends, playing three-straight on the road before returning for a four-match homestand to start November, closing the home schedule against new ASUN member Austin Peay. Rounding off the regular season, Central Arkansas heads back out for one last road match against the Kennesaw State Owls on November 13th.

"Our schedule is designed to test us, and I think we're getting that," Newberry said. "We look forward to competing this fall and can't wait to be back in the Prince Center in front of our fans."
