FORT MYERS, FL. — The Sugar Bears rose to the moment on Championship Sunday, powering past Eastern Kentucky in four sets (25–21, 25–18, 21–25, 25–21) to claim the 2025 ASUN Tournament title. Behind a dominant offensive performance and clutch defensive play, Central Arkansas sealed its first ASUN Championship and punched its ticket to the NCAA Tournament.
Laci Bohannan delivered a championship-worthy performance, erupting for
24 kills on .426 hitting to lead all players. She tallied 27 points on the day, consistently providing the spark UCA leaned on in big moments.
A historic milestone highlighted the afternoon as
Caylan Koons surpassed 4,000 career assists, becoming one of the few setters in program history to reach that mark. Koons finished the title match with
49 assists, adding nine digs while orchestrating an offense that hit .262 on the day.
UCA's attack—balanced and relentless—featured key contributions across the lineup:
Gabby Tuiaana recorded 10 kills,
Samantha Cousins added eight, and
Greyson Button put down six kills on a .417 clip.
At the net, the Sugar Bears were imposing, stacking up
30 total block assists, highlighted by Tuiaana's seven and Button's five.
McKinzee Haas continued to shine with four kills, two aces, and six blocks.
Defensively,
Alexis McDaniel anchored the back row with
17 digs, while Bohannan, Chaney, and Koons added nine each to keep EKU's attack in check.
After taking the first two sets, Central Arkansas absorbed EKU's push in the third before regrouping and finishing strong in the fourth—closing out the match with poise and championship composure.
With the victory, the Sugar Bears cap off an impressive postseason run, bringing home the ASUN Championship trophy and celebrating a signature moment for the program — one punctuated by Koons' historic milestone and a complete team performance on the biggest stage.
